A segment on CBS The Early Show featured Dr. Christine Ren of NYU and LAP-BAND® System patient, Zulma Rosario, who lost more than 100 pounds and has maintained the weight loss for more than two years. The segment highlights that after numerous failed attempts at losing weight, Zulma thought about having gastric bypass, but decided that LAP-BAND® System was better for her. Now, Zulma says her health has improved and she no longer takes any "pills.” Dr. Ren explains the procedure and notes that it is silicon band wrapped around the upper part of the stomach to control hunger/portion control. KCRA-TV Online
An article on KCRA-TV Online (NBC – Sacramento) featured Dr. Donald Waldrep and his patient Karen Parsegian, who plans to have the LAP-BAND® System. Parsegian describes her life-long struggle with weight, which became worse after an accident left her blind. After many failed diets, Dr. Waldrep recommended Parsegian have the LAP-BAND® System surgery because it is the “least invasive” procedure. He explains the procedure and notes, "Band patients have something they can adjust over time. It allows them the freedom to control how they are going to manipulate their outcome over years and years and years."
