Many LAP-BAND
® surgeons recommend that their patients begin an exercise program weeks or even months before surgery. Regardless of your chosen activity-walking, swimming, weights at the gym-it's smart to have some workout DVDs ready for those inevitable days when weather or your schedule keep you at home. You can try out low-impact exercise DVDs by renting them from NetFlix or Blockbuster. If you're new to exercise, consider easy-on-your-joints programs such as Sit and Be Fit (sitandbefit.org), a program of chair exercises that airs on many PBS stations (you can also buy DVDs), and the Weigh 2 Win Bariatric Work-Out (weigh2win.com), designed for people who are anticipating or have completed weight-loss surgery.
